The Boys Basketball Team hosted Southwest on Tuesday, Mar.13.
In their semifinals state match up, the Wolves started off sluggish offensively as they were unable to convert on their shots. As the second quarter progressed the Wolves began to rally back from a 5 point deficit. In the waning moments of the first half, Tyree Winborn drained an absurd 32 foot three pointer to give Van Nuys the lead. The offensive momentum continued for the Wolves as they began to outshoot Southwest. While they were hitting their groove offensively, Van Nuys also played tight defense as well. Led by Ethan Quiambao and Matthew Sykes, the defense was able to steal and block incoming shots. Winborn heated up in the third and fourth quarter, as his scoring lifted Van Nuys to a twenty point victory.
Final Score: 72-52
NEXT GAME: Van Nuys vs Santa Clarita Christian (at Master’s University) on Saturday, Mar.17 at 6:00 pm.
