Dakota Threats, Opinion Editor

Dakota Threats is the Opinion Editor for The Mirror. She is a senior in her first year of the journalism program. Dakota loves making edits and listening to music. Some of her favorite artists include Jorja Smith and Dominic Fike. She likes to listen to all kinds of music, but her favorite song since she was little is “Like A Star” by Corinne Bailey Rae. When she’s not listening to music or making edits, Dakota is either crocheting or collecting tiny objects. She likes to collect small trinkets in altoid tins and decorate her desk in her room with tiny keychains. Her top cause is free education. She believes that education is important and that everyone should have the opportunity and the resources to learn.

Counterintuitive? Despite an 8:30 a.m. start, the closing of alternative entrances by 8:20 a.m. on campus has resulted in a line of students waiting to enter through the main entrance that often wraps around the block.

Unnecessary tardy enforcements are an inconvenience for students.

The two new tardy policies the school has introduced may seem effective, but is an inconvenience to members of the student body.

The "Don't say gay" bill being considered would prevent free conversations and exclude people on a personal, individual level.

“Gay” isnt a bad word, stop acting like it is.

Legislators in Florida are trying to prevent discussions of sexual orientation and gender in elementary schools. If passed, it may set a precedent that would erase decades of civil rights work and threaten our generation.
