The Boys Volleyball Team squared off against last year’s champions, El Camino High School, on Thursday, Mar. 3.

“The game was a good measure for what’s to come later on in the season,” said captain Daron Excel. “I know I definitely learned a lot, and I’m sure the rest of the team has as well.”

For this non-conference match, Van Nuys started off with a lot of energy on their offense, connecting to both the outside and right side hitters. However, the Wolves struggled in blocking for the majority of the game as the Conquistadors were able to penetrate through the blocks. Serving, passing, and hitting errors resulted in Van Nuys’ loss in the first and second set.

In the third set, The Wolves were able to adjust to their opponents hits which allowed them to limit their digging errors and score. Ultimately, El Camino Real would be able to regain the upper hand and earn their first victory of the year.

FINAL SCORE: 25-16, 25-13, 25-21.
