National R*pe day | Fake news!

While millions have posted about it, National Rape day does NOT exist.

As tiktok rises in popularity, teens must figure out if they can control the amount of time they spend on the app.

National Rape day, dated as April 24, is FAKE! Millions of social media users are posting on their accounts about April 24 being National Rape day and are sharing online definitions of the day which claim that it’s a day where rape becomes legal. This supposed “trend” started when a group of 6 men uploaded a video to the social media platform, TikTok, in which they encouraged others to commit sexual assaults on April 24. As a result, #april24 had more than 31.1 million views and more than a thousand videos. The vast majority of those videos contained safety warnings and condemnations of the day with one user warning “This is a video going around on TikTok of disgusting men — rapists, child molesters, predators, just disgusting human beings — and they literally came up with a date to go around and rape women and children. You literally heard me right: women and children.” Fact-checkers at TikTok immediately began searching for the video to remove off of their platform and take to law enforcement, but since then they haven’t found any evidence of a video like that existing in the first place. Police and the rape crisis centers are aware of the rumors, and say you have nothing to worry about.
