Find out which school events are cancelled due to covid-19 pandemic
As the threat of coronavirus looms, LAUSD is taking action to help prevent the spread of the virus by requesting all schools cancel or postpone any events with large gatherings.

The Los Angeles Unified School District’s Superintendent Austin Beutner has ordered all schools to cancel or postpone any large school events to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
This includes assemblies or open houses as well as school excursions to public venues where there is an exposure to crowds. Athletic events can continue but without spectators. The district also suggests that schools test Zoom, a communications app which provides video conferencing, online meetings and chats, to convene virtual gatherings to prepare to possibly move classes online.
Here are out-of-school events that have been canceled or postponed so far:
- Columbia Scholastic Press Association Spring Convention in New York City, NY
- Key Club’s DCON in Reno, NV
- Acadec’s State Competition in Sacramento, CA
- Junior States of America’s Spring State in Riverside, CA
- USC Model United Nations Conference in Los Angeles, CA
- Subsequent History Bowl competitions
- Varsity volleyball tournament in Hawaii
- Skills USA competition in New York

- Skateland Fundraiser
- Blood Drive
- Money Wars
- Associated Student Body (ASB) board elections
- Class Board Elections
