The Los Angeles Unified School District’s Superintendent Austin Beutner has ordered all schools to cancel or postpone any large school events to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
This includes assemblies or open houses as well as school excursions to public venues where there is an exposure to crowds. Athletic events can continue but without spectators. The district also suggests that schools test Zoom, a communications app which provides video conferencing, online meetings and chats, to convene virtual gatherings to prepare to possibly move classes online.
