Becoming champions of their league with a 11-1 record, the Van Nuys Boys Basketball are seeded third for the upcoming playoffs and will begin defending their title on Wednesday, Feb. 15 in a match against the Lincoln Tigers.
Star guards and co-captains Ethan Quiambao and Tyree Winborn will lead their team to claim their second consecutive championship title this year.
Quiambao is determined to lead his team to success no matter what. He is ready to contribute to the team’s winning effort in any aspect of the game whether it is passing or defending. He believes that his fellow teammates are hungry for the opportunity and are eager to display their skills on the court
“Teamwork is critical for us and mental toughness would be required as we advance forward.” – Ethan Quiambao.
Winborn, who averages 37 points per game, has been the focal point on the team’s offense with his staggering performances lifting Van Nuys to numerous victories.
Although he is the main scorer, Winborn expects his teammates to aid him on both ends and work as a cohesive unit.
With playoffs beginning in a matter of days, the team is ecstatic for the upcoming challenges and the chance to seize glory.
“We need to take every game like our last, and play for each other,” said Winborn.
