Van Nuys Stands Victorious Against Kennedy
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Varsity and JV sweeps Kennedy in straight sets.
The Van Nuys Girl’s Volleyball battled with the Kennedy Cougars on Monday, Sept.18.
The JV girls started off the match with several receiving issues as they fell behind early in the first set. After a quick timeout, the Wolves rallied back and took the first set 25-21. Throughout the second set, Kennedy’s back row defense was inconsistent resulting in a 25-19 for Van Nuys.
The Varsity Wolves had a quick start to their offense, as setters #7 Alex Dalumpines and #20 Lauren Woolsey paved the way for a 25-17 win in the first set. Carrying their momentum into the second set, #12 Soana Manu was in complete control as she accumulated eighteen kills, taking the second set 25-15. As the Cougars tried to rally back in the third set, two solo blocks from #10 Kiara Gebert and defensive coverage from #26 Emily Tsaturian led Van Nuys to a 25-19 win.
Final Score: 25-17, 25-15, 25-19
