Monroe Demolishes Van Nuys

SPORTS: Football : Varsity loses 43-12; JV falls short in 19-12 lost.
The Van Nuys Football Team faced off against the Monroe Vikings on Friday, Sept 15.
Due to the heat in their previous match, the JV Wolves finally made their long anticipated debut. Throughout the game the Wolves were able to withstand the offense of Monroe, however mistackles late in the game resulted in a 19-12 lost.
In the first quarter, a costly pick six allowed Monroe to have a quick 6-0 lead. Van Nuys quickly responded with a twelve yard rushing touchdown from #21 Marco Martinez tying the game at six apiece. However mistackles from the linebackers allowed Monroe to regain a 14-6 lead. In the second, mistackles from the special teams allowed Monroe good field positioning as they increased the lead to 29-6. With issues on the offensive and defensive line, Monroe would have control of the lead throughout the remainder of the game, despite a late pick six from #7 Alexis Herrera
Final Score: 43-12
