SPORTS: Girl’s Volleyball : Varsity triumphs in 3-0 victory; JV wins 2-0
On Wednesday, Sept.13, the Van Nuys Volleyball Girls swept the Panorama Pythons in straight sets.
The JV Girls started off the match by scoring many points from the service line as Panorama struggled passing the various float serves. This allowed Van Nuys to easily set their outside and right side hitters to score. Leading the way for Van Nuys was #2 Jackie Buenaventura and #44 Bella Sta.Ana who kept the ball in play. Van Nuys overwhelmed Panorama in straight sets with scores 25-15 and 25-9.
The Varsity Girls also started the game pushing points from the service line. With Panorama struggling to pass the serves, the Wolves took complete advantage of the situation by attacking with hitters #12 Captain Soana Manu and #10 Kiara Gebert throughout the first set, resulting in a 25-11 win. The Volleyball Girls entered the second set with multiple serving errors. However, as the set progressed, consistent passes from #26 Libero Emily Tsaturain stabilized the defense and allowed Van Nuys to earn a 25-14 win. Heading into the final set, the Pythons’ defense crumbled as the Wolves won 25-12.
Final Score : 25-11, 25-14, 25-12
