    Upping Graduation Requirements

    September 8, 2017

Members of the LAUSD School District Board are considering requiring a minimum grade of C to graduate. Upon seeing data of the class of 2017, many members observed that the number of graduating students was too high in comparison to those college-bound to UC’s or CSU’s. As a solution, some proposed repealing a policy established 2 years ago that allows students to graduate despite having Ds in their classes. School Board President, Dr. Ref Rodriguez, says that this policy may let them see which students “are really able to get into a UC/CSU.” If this change does occur, it will likely take a considerable amount of time, but it will have no effect on the class of 2018 and 2019.
