Alemany Soars Past Van Nuys
August 30, 2017
SPORTS: Girl’s Volleyball : Varsity falters in 3-0 loss: JV loses 2-0
Facing Bishop Alemany in their third game of the season, the Van Nuys Volleyball Girls suffered their second defeat on Tuesday, August 29.
The JV team began with a sluggish start in the first set which resulted in a 25-19 lost. Unforced errors from the service line and mistakes in setting in the second set sealed the deal for Alemany who won 25-23, winning both sets of the game.
Van Nuys Varsity had constant issues on receiving the ball as they could not handle the float serves from Alemany. Struggles on the receive prevented Van Nuys from scoring throughout the three sets. The front row blocks were also unable to contain the 6”2 Alemany middle hitter who often tooled the block from the Van Nuys middles or attacked the seams of the back row defense.
“ I am proud of how both teams competed and fought despite facing a tough opponent at Alemany, I strongly believe we will learn from our mistakes and improve as a team while the season progresses. There are many ups and downs throughout the season and we must look onward if we are to reach our ultimate goal which is winning championships,” said Omri Azarly, Head Coach of JV and Assistant Coach of Varsity.
Final Score: 25-10, 25-10, 25-10.
