FOOTBALL: Sylmar demolishes the field 28-9, only allowing the Varsity Wolves to squeeze in a single touchdown; JV collapses 44-6 due to losing star wide-receiver, Devan Ramos
After suffering crushing defeats to the Canoga Park Hunters, both Van Nuys Wolves football teams look to bounce back from blowout losses against the Sylmar Spartans at home on Friday, September 30.
After losing star wide-receiver, Devan Ramos, to the Varsity squad, the JV team started off the evening on a low point.
The Spartans demolished the Wolves in a 44-6 loss, amounting to their fourth season loss.

The Varsity team looked to redeem not only the Junior Varsity team, but also themselves after they lost to Canoga Park, but were unable to get the win.
Van Nuys initially failed on a passing touchdown with less than nine minutes left in the first quarter. Then again, the defense allowed another touchdown off a run, with four minutes left in the first quarter.
The Wolves’ defense started to click in the second quarter, during which they held the Spartans scoreless.
But the Wolves’ offense did not capitalize on their defense’s stellar performance, only pulling out one field goal and facing a 14-3 deficit at the half.
Coming out of halftime, the Wolves prepared to lead a comeback that never materialized. The Spartans scored another touchdown, extending their lead to 21-3.
Keeping the game alive, the Wolves offense helds a drive to score their first touchdown of the game. Desperate for points, the Wolves unsuccessfully attempted a two point conversion, making the score 21-9.
With little time remaining, the Wolves defense dug deep within and created a quick four-and-out, giving the offense another chance to score.
The defense failed to stop the Spartans, letting them score another touchdown, widening their lead 28-9. Neither the Wolves nor the Spartans scored in the remaining minutes.
The Wolves Varsity team falls 2-3 on the season.
In their next games, both the Wolves Varsity and JV teams look to bounce back as they head on the road against Kennedy High School.
