Playlist: Unlikely Christmas Carols

A new take on Christmas songs.

An assortment of handmade Christmas decorations.

Now that everyone, including radio stations, is streaming the classic Christmas carols, it can get a little repetitive. Whether you love or hate these songs, it’s refreshing to listen to new music that we’re not quite familiar with. From Snoop Dogg to My Chemical Romance and covers and takes from other genres, here are some diverse and unexpected alternatives outside of the oldies and mainstreams.

Julia Pfau is the Perspectives Editor for The Mirror. She is a senior and has been writing for the program since her sophomore year. Outside of journalism, she likes drawing, fashion and cooking. She aims to help write impactful and interesting stories for The Mirror. In the future, she would like to study marketing or art.

Established in 2016, the Mirror is an award-winning student-run online publication designed to deliver timely, accurate news as well as unique and eye-opening opinions, reviews and photography to the Van Nuys High School community. It exists as a platform for students to utilize their First Amendment right to express themselves freely and without fear.
