Upset of the Year or Thrashing of the Year?

Coming off a disappointing Homecoming game performance against Panorama High School, the Varsity Football Team is bracing to meet the San Fernando High School Tigers in a home game on Friday Oct. 12.

The Wolves are up against a powerhouse team in San Fernando, the defending CIF Division 1 Champions. The Tigers have dominated the competition thus far. Led by star studded running backs Nehemiah Thompson and Kyle Bryant, the Tigers are currently 3-0 while outscoring their opponents 170-6 throughout the three-game league play span.

The chances of a Wolves victory are unlikely as San Fernando will easily exploit the team’s defensive mishaps. The weakest part of the Wolves defense is against the rush, as shown in last week’s clash with the Panorama Pythons.

Allowing 32 points to a subpar Pythons team is cause enough for concern, and the score could be even more lopsided as the Tigers offense is considered one of the best in the city.

The Tigers are likely to rush the ball for the majority of the upcoming game on Friday, Oct.12. Possessing two explosive running backs in Thompson and Bryant will allow the Tigers to break up the defensive line with ease and could result in heavy chunks of yardage for the duo.

After a 69-0 win over the Kennedy Cougars, the Tigers look to pile on more points against the Wolves, who lost to the Cougars earlier in the season.

The combination of a questionable defense running up against San Fernando’s powerhouse offense can result in a severe blowout for the Wolves on Friday night.
