The VNHS Vocal Department won multiple awards in the annual Heritage Festival at Disneyland on April 15.
The Vannaires and Bella Voce placed first in Division Gold and earned an invitation to the Festival of Gold and a performance at Carnegie Hall. The Vocal Ensemble received the same awards while placing in Division Gold. The Bella Voce and Vocal Ensemble also received the adjudicator’s award, commending them as the most favored choir by judges. The Mensemble placed second in Division Silver.
“Heritage is really fun because it’s the choral community from a bunch of different places coming together to celebrate music,” – Genevieve Rochblatt, a performer in the Vannaires, Bella Voce and Vocal Ensemble.
The festival represented the schools and choirs across the nation and were judged by a panel of nationally acclaimed adjudicators. The VNHS vocal groups performed classical and jazz songs that were featured in the recent Spring Concert. The students competed against other schools, including Gilroy High School.
