The Boys Volleyball Team hosted the Kennedy Cougars in a league matchup on Wednesday, Mar.22.
“With only a day of practice to prepare and adjust to a team like Kennedy, we just fell short in terms of offense and defense,” said Head Coach Omri Azarly. “Overall, an okay performance for only a day of practice with the new lineup.”
With the loss of their two main hitters, the Wolves were short handed in their battle with the Cougars. In the first set, Van Nuys would have a back and forth affair as they constantly exchanged the lead. Due to several late serving and passing errors, it caused Van Nuys to drop the first set. The second set had changes in momentum, as the setters were connecting with the front row hitters. The Wolves bounced back and grab a second set victory. However in the third and fourth set, the issues of passing and serving would arise again as they were unable to establish their offense. Late blocks on the opponent’s middle hitter also hindered the Wolves comeback. Ultimately the Wolves dropped the third and fourth set, and resulted in their first league loss of the season.
Final Score: 23-25, 25-22, 21-25, 20-25.
NEXT GAME: Van Nuys vs Reseda on Wednesday, Apr. 4 @ 4 PM.
