BOYS WATER POLO: The Wolves comes up clutch down the stretch
The Van Nuys Water Polo Team escaped from Verdugo Hills’ clutch in a close game on Friday, Oct. 6
Led by captains Marko Mitrovic and Tyler Jung, the Wolves played a high scoring game and tied 6-6 in the fourth quarter. The score was left at a standstill and the game entered its first overtime.
The Dons scored the first goal in overtime, but Jung quickly responded with another backhand shot forcing the second overtime. The game continued on with both sides unable to overcome the other, with 30 seconds left the Dons scored an outside shot, however, Jung was able to draw a penalty shot. Mitrovic scored the shot successfully tying the game for a third overtime. At the third quarter, Mitrovic scored the game-winning shot in a sudden death situation.
