GOLF: Brian Clavio narrowly misses cut-off to advance by one stroke.
The Boy’s Golf team’s shot at Regional Finals came to an unfortunate end during City Finals on Wednesday, May 17 on the Wilson Golf Course.
Van Nuys faced-off against schools in Los Angeles, which include Palisades, Granada Hills, El Camino, Chatsworth, Verdugo Hills, Marshall, North Hollywood, John F. Kennedy, Taft, Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Birmingham.
Brian Clavio, representing the Wolves, was eliminated after failing to reach 82 strokes, the cut-off to advance to the Regional Finals. Clavio missed the cut-off by only one stroke, with a score of 83; if he had achieved 82 strokes, he would have faced an additional playoff match since two other players were tied with 82 strokes for twelfth and eleventh place.
Palisades won first place while Granada Hills was runner-up. Both schools advance to the Regional Finals along with the top twelve individuals from the other competing schools.
