North Hollywood: 37-36
- The first quarter began with the Cougars leading by nine points.
- Cara Dechathong, number 40, made several spectacular layups throughout the game.
- The Wolves were up by ten points in the third quarter. In the last 0.2 seconds, the score was 35-36 with North Hollywood in the lead.
- Cara Dechathong made a last-minute layup assisted by a pass from Jazmin Ruiz, number 21.
Kennedy: 44-34
- This was a close game, but Van Nuys managed to take the lead in the last quarter after halftime.
- Jazmin Alejandre, number 3, and Karen Grewal, number 5, had great rebounds.
Paraclete: 53-26
- Paraclete had many tall players, which caused some difficulty for the shorter Van Nuys players.
- Katya Tapia, number 2, made several three-point shots. Star player Cara Dechathong, number 40, was injured in the first half, leaving the team to play the last quarter without her.
- Katya Tapia, number 2, stepped up to become a second point guard in Cara’s place.
Reseda: 49-7
- Cara Dechathong, number 40, did not play due to an injury. Jazmin Ruiz, number 21, made several great three-point shots.
- At halftime, the score was 30-0 with Van Nuys in the lead.
What’s next | The girls basketball team’s next game is on Thu., Dec. 15 at Panorama High School, followed by a home game on Fri., Dec. 16.
The word on campus | “Even though we had a rocky start to our season, I believe we will be able to maintain our standing title as league champions. I’ve seen how hard we’ve been working and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made since the start of the summer. I can’t wait to see what the season brings us!” says Jazmin Alejandre, number 3, a varsity player.
