The bottom line | The football team plays the North Hollywood Huskies but ultimately loses, 0-54 on Thurs., Sept. 1 in the Huskies’ domain.
Highlights |
- The offensive line gave the acting quarterback, Owen Mitchell time and space. This was his first time playing quarterback, since the regular quarterback was absent.
- The lineman held up very well, as they opened up pockets for Gideon Dela Torre and Christopher Garcia, the running backs, to run through and make plays. However, one of the lineman was injured, so they had to revert to the backups.
What’s next | The Wolves are at Hollywood on Fri., Sept. 9. After 2 away games, they will face Kennedy’s Golden Cougars at home on Fri., Sept. 16.
The word on campus | “Our team had been through too much to have another 0-1-10 season. There’s still so much that we have to prove and accomplish, and I believe we will accomplish many things this year.”
Our thoughts | The team is looking good, however their Achilles heel would have to be the defense, although at practices they primarily focus on defense and tackling. Our Wolves seem physically prepared, but not mentally prepared for the challenges of remaining positive in pessimistic situations. For the upcoming games, the 2 key starting players will be present: the quarterback and running back, which will significantly change the team’s dynamic.
