Excelling Magnet Award

CAMPUS: The Van Nuys Science Magnets rewarded for their excellence and innovation in education.

Van Nuys High School’s medical and STM magnet programs were each awarded an “Excelling Magnet” certificate, determined by the program’s performance in accordance to the Magnet Performance Index. The Performing Arts and Medical/STEM magnets also received the MAGIE AWARDS for their excellence and innovation in promoting our magnet theme.

MSA’s National Merit Awards program honors the top magnet schools in the US and awards them with these titles to recognize magnet schools that demonstrate commitment to high academic standards, innovation in curriculum, successful desegregation and diversity efforts and a consistent delivery of high quality educational services to all.

Schools ranked in the excellence category are eligible to receive monetary awards and the change to be named the nation’s top emerging magnet school. One of the selected schools will be selected to win $5000 which is considered the most prestigious award.

Christian Walsh is currently a news writer for The Mirror. He joined during his junior year and is in his first year of journalism.

Other than his efforts in journalism, he also enjoys playing piano and spending time with friends. He enjoys all forms of music, and loves spending lots of time on Youtube and Discord. He would like to major in computer science in the future.
