Van Nuys Football Takes Tough Homecoming Lost

FOOTBALL: Varsity blew 20-0 lead ; JV comes up short
Many students riled up their cheers at the Van Nuys Football homecoming game against Kennedy on Friday, Oct. 6.
The JV Boys started slow as they trailed through the three quarters played. Midway through the fourth, the Wolves scored a 70 yard run. The Wolves immediately got the ball back and quickly scored, cutting the deficit to four. Ultimately the Cougars held on as the Wolves fell short.
With an electric atmosphere from the crowd, the Varsity Boys looked to obtain their first win of the season. The Wolves’ defense held the Cougars to zero points early on and Van Nuys scored the first touchdown of the night. Kennedy then respond with two touchdowns in the second quarter, but the Wolves were leading 20-14 by halftime.
In the second half of the game, Kennedy’s defense blocked the running lanes and stagnated the Wolves from scoring. As the Wolves’ offense slowed down, Kennedy eventually broke through the score deficit and scored on multiple drives in the third and fourth quarter. Van Nuys would be held to 20 points in the second half, resulting in an another defeat.
