SPORTS: The VNHS Boys’ Varsity Basketball squad continues their conference winning streak to 6-0 with another dominating performance.
Continuing their winning streak to a fourth game, the Van Nuys Boy’s Varsity Basketball Team defeated the Reseda Regents 79-36 in a conference home game on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
Coming off a stellar 40-point performance by guard Tyree Winborn against Canoga Park, the Wolves were looking to win their seventh home game of the season.
Keeping their opponents scoreless throughout the entire first quarter, the Wolves started off the game suffocating Reseda on the defensive end, eventually building a 17-0 lead.
The Wolves dominated the second quarter as well, breaking down Reseda’s defense and extending the lead to 40-14 at the end of the half.
The Wolves swept the Regents in the second half, scoring 27 points in the third quarter alone and gaining a 67-29 lead in the fourth quarter.
With the game all but wrapped up, the Wolves subbed their second unit at the close of the game.
The Wolves shut down Reseda’s offensive plays, only allowing 7 points in the entire fourth quarter.
Both Tyree Winborn and Anthony Daniels scored 20 points, with Daniels notching a double-double—when a player earns double digits within two separate statistics—with 13 rebounds.
The Wolves extend their perfect league record 6-0 and improve their record to 7-2 at home and 16-7 overall for the season.
The Wolves play on the road against the Kennedy Cougars on Friday Jan. 27 night at 7 p.m.
NEXT GAME: Wolves @ Kennedy High School on Friday, Jan. 27. at 7 p.m.
