One-sided Win for Granada Hills
GIRL’S VOLLEYBALL: Varsity defeated 3-0 as Highlanders dominate on overwhelming height advantage; JV goes down 2-0
Hoping to win a match and to carry some momentum forward, Both Girl’s Volleyball teams lost to Granada in on Sept. 15.
The Junior Varsity Girl’s team was defeated 2-0, and the Varsity Girl’s team lost 3-0.
In the first few serves of the game, the Varsity team was neck-and-neck, but after several misplays and miscommunications, Granada started to take over the set. Granada took the first set, winning 25-11.
Granada’s domination didn’t stop there. The Highlanders took advantage of continued misplays, capitalizing on many mistakes. It became more and more difficult for the Lady Wolves to recuperate. Granada won the second set by an even larger margin, prevailing 25-7.
The final set was just as devastating. Granada used their overwhelming player-height as to their advantage winning the last set by an even larger point spread, 25-6.
Although the victory was one-sided, the Lady wolves did make some big plays. Lolit Aninias had several convincing blocks against Granada’s hitters including their star player (#16). Alex Eleazar was able to juke out Granada’s front wall with a clean tip just when they jumped for the block. Kiara Gebert’s stellar defense stood out as she fended off several spikes.
Both teams look to regain their confidence, as they face Kennedy High School on the home court on Sept. 19.
