My journey in looksmaxxing first started when I was scrolling on TikTok. In 2022, I saw edits of handsome models like Chico Lachowski, Jordan Barrett or Sean O’Pry, but I didn’t really pay attention to them, since it was just edits of good looking people.
I started to really get into it around 2024, once I began struggling with my own insecurity: my acne. It first started as a simple “how to get rid of acne” search, but I then started to see a flood of all kinds of methods on Tiktok or Youtube.
These methods were really odd. Some of them were about hitting your zygos or cheek bones with a hammer, or even hitting your jawline, a “technique” called bone smashing. I never did this, since it seemed absurd.
Some guys didn’t have the same outlook.
The number one looksmaxxer, Braden Eric Peters, more famously known as Clavicular, swore by the harmful method, and says it works like a pump by promoting blood flow to the face and, according to medical documents on Wolff’s Law, the more you damage a bone it comes back thicker and stronger.
Even though this was proven to be a myth by the University of Nebraska Medical Center and isn’t true, a lot of people still try it because they wanna cope with their own insecurities, and they say this method works. All it really does is make your face even more asymmetrical.
So take it from me, do not try bone smashing.
One creator on TikTok gives really good advice on how to improve your skin and helps in subtle but noticeable ways. Going by the username @syrianpsycho, K. Shami develops his own kind of looksmaxxing through supplements and health benefits, which is much safer than breaking your bones.
This technique is called “softmaxxing,” and isn’t as harmful to your body. It’s mostly about your health and what products can help you without harming your body.
But continuing with my journey, I was mostly interested in all these kinds of methods because they informed me about a lot of things I didn’t know. I learned about more specific ways to remove my own personal insecurities, like if you started micro-needling your face, it promotes collagen and helps remove acne scars over time.
Little advice like that can help people a lot by informing people on how to deal with their insecurities and how they can take action.
Of course, there’s still bad advice out there, like bonesmashing, but this is why you always need to look at the side effects of the methods you want to use to help improve your looks. Even though I don’t consider myself a “looksmaxxer,” I would still say I know a little bit more than the average person on a subject like this.
I think everyone should indulge themselves in looksmaxxing. Don’t look at it as something that is unethical and not worth your time because, in my opinion, there is a lot of good advice to be found in your journey through self-improvement.
