Pop Culture Update: Met Gala fits, TikTok trends and rumors
 LISA Rosa Parks
LISA Rosa Parks

At the Met Gala, LISA from BLACKPINK, came in a custom Louis Vuitton outfit designed by Henry Taylor. It was a black lace suit top with lace underwear. She must have misunderstood the theme because instead of having something designed from a designer that supports Black excellence, like the theme suggests, she put Rosa Parks on across her crotch. There were many other faces embroidered on her lace, but Parks was the face that caught the camera’s eye, even when the fact was false. There is still confusion over who is embroidered on LISA’s crotch.

“I’m so hungry…”

This viral trend on TikTok started off with someone in a relationship saying, “I’m so hungry I could eat .” It obviously leaves their current partner in shock, even more if they’ve never talked about the ex. The trend originates from “The Simpsons”, where Sherri and Terri Mackleberry say, “I’m so hungry I could eat at Arby’s”, while at a campfire. What is so appealing is the reactions parents, friends and partners have to hearing an old name. The trend has expanded into movie characters and even children saying their parents’ exes to them.

Kayla Malec and James Charles

Kayla Malec, a TikTok influencer, has gone viral for what her abusive ex boyfriend put her through. Malecc shared her story in early April and went to court on May 7th where her ex, Evan Johnson, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to time in jail. What has made the situation blow up even further, is James Charles’ alleged support to Johnson. He has denied the rumors, but most of the internet is still against him and thinks Charles is a bad person.

Melissa Ocegueda, Staff Writer
Melissa Ocegueda, a junior, is a new staff writer for the Arts and Entertainment section. Her hobbies range from doing her own nails to baking. She is passionate about theater, specifically technical theater in light design. Ocegueda’s obsession is the musical “Hamilton,” probably her favorite musical ever. She dreams to study in New York, hoping to one day be a writer and maybe even a director. It’s quite a contradiction for her as she doesn’t like to read but hopes to be a great writer. Her favorite movie is “Marriage Story” because she loves how the story depicts a simple separation turned to a warring divorce because of society. One of Ocegueda’s favorite songs is “Wildflower” by Billie Ellish. She wishes she could donate to DACA and The Trevor Project.
