For years, speculation has swirled around Melania Trump’s relationship with her husband, President Donald Trump, driven by moments such as her avoiding his hand and maintaining a neutral expression during public appearances—incidents that have sparked rumors of her resentment toward the President.
Born in Slovenia, Melania Trump immigrated to the U.S. in 1996 to pursue a modeling career. She met Donald Trump two years later, married him in 2005 and they had their first son, Barron Trump, in 2006.
Over the years, Melania has built her own identity, launching a jewelry line in 2009 and reportedly encouraging her husband to run for president in 2016.
Despite her role as First Lady, Melania remains one of the most private figures, yet after occurrences like swatting her husband’s hand away, many believe she is unhappy in her marriage.
Senior Renisha Patel has been observant of their interactions and acknowledges that while Melania’s actions sometimes suggest disdain, it’s not necessarily hatred.
However, Patel does believe that Melania’s marriage to Trump was more about gaining advantages rather than love.
Although President Trump emphasizes the importance of deporting immigrants, particularly those who entered illegally, he married a Slovenian woman.
“He was her ticket into the country,” Patel noted. “She’s an immigrant and she married to get a green card or whatever the procedure is.”
In addition, after a long term relationship, many people get comfortable, something Patel suggests may be the reason she has stayed with him for so long.
“A lot of people also don’t leave because they’ve just been with the person for so long,” she said. “I think the money, status, maybe personal reasons are why she’s still with him.”
She also acknowledged Barron Trump as an example of Melania’s relationship with her husband.
“If Melania really didn’t like Trump, her son would be more reserved and on her side and not a duplicate of Trump,” Patel said.
Ultimately, while Melania Trump’s body language and public moments hint at discomfort and disdain, her continued presence in Trump’s life proves that this speculation is just another example of public misinterpretation.
