This was it! The week before opening, otherwise known as tech week.
Tech week is the week where everything comes together, the week where the show becomes what the audience sees, the full picture.
This week is where all the crew come in. Sound, lights, props, costumes, makeup, all come together and do what they need.
For senior Pamela Fajardo-Alfaro, she was working on making the show sound good and cohesive. Her job as soundboard operator was to level out every cast member’s voices through the microphones to make sure the cast sings as a unit, so no one would be too loud or soft for the shows. For Fajardo-Alfaro this was not only a huge responsibility but a big struggle.
“‘Mamma Mia!’ tech was one of the hardest shows for me working on the soundboard,” commented Fajardo. “I’ve done three productions as a soundboard operator and this has definitely been the biggest challenge to attack. The show is known for its songs so it’s a huge responsibility for sound.”

But sound wasn’t the only crew that had a big responsibility.
Senior Kayla Balikiyan-Davis, this production’s Production Stage Manager ran a majority of tech week, leaving her exhausted.
“Last week was long and exhausting,” said Balikiyan-Davis. “However, it allowed me to see all the bits and pieces finally come together. Seeing the actors, set, props and lighting all together made me feel confident that opening night would be a success.”
After a full week of late nights and early mornings the show was completed and ready to be viewed by a live and excited audience.
