In October 2023, musician Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, an infamous ‘90s rock group, visited the school.
Working with his charity MusicWill, which helps provide instruments to students in need, Morello made a return visit on May 23 to see the progress these students had made.
“Through MusicWill, we’ve opened about 20 music programs across the country,” Morello said.
As Morello took his seat in the front of the audience in the Donna Hubbard Auditorium, he was given a private performance of this week’s Strings Concert, which was performed this past Friday at 7 p.m.
Witnessing both dance and Ms. Bellusci’s strings class perform, Morello was moved by what he saw.
“I am so impressed with the development of these musicians,” he said. “These students have come out to learn, and it’s already paid great dividends. I was very impressed by the way the school combines dance, orchestra, technical theatre and film, making these shows such a holistic learning experience.”
As the semester ends, Morello looks forward to the new school year, where he can continue his lessons with the school’s students.
“I was happy to come and see the progress the kids made with the instruments, so when I come back next year, I’ll see what else they can do,” he said.
