The real reason Homecoming was postponed

A paperwork issue and the threat of inclement weather contributed to the event’s delay.

As of Saturday, Sept. 30 around 9:30 a.m., ASB announced on both Instagram and Schoology that the school’s Homecoming event would be postponed due to inclement weather and contract issues.

ASB teacher Mr. Kenneth Weber explained that everything had initially been going according to plan.

“We were all surprised by the news because we already planned it and were setting everything up,” he said.

ASB Vice President Karen Grewal explained that ASB was setting up as normal throughout Friday during and after school, even arriving early Saturday morning before the sudden announcement was made.

“We were told about this at 9:15 a.m. while at school setting up for the dance,” Grewal said.

According to ASB, the whole process of the behind-the-scenes of this dance was chaotic in the first place.

Due to the cold and rainy weather, ASB had to make a last-minute decision to move the dance to the big gym. Unfortunately, the gym was too small to host the large number of guests that had bought tickets.

In addition, ASB found out on the morning of the thirtieth that the appropriate paperwork for the dance hadn’t been fully processed by the district, thus making it impossible for the dance to take place.

This isn’t the first time Homecoming has been postponed. In 2021, the event was delayed multiple times into the school year, ultimately being renamed the Winter Formal in February.
