Counselors assist students with college and career planning

Academic Counseling is an important part of our school’s everyday campus life. It’s where students go for help with classes, schedule switches, college planning, personal challenges, and goals for their future careers. Advisors listen, give guidance, and help students make the right decisions. This shows how academic counseling supports students not only during schedule switches, but also as they prepare for life beyond graduation.

  • Behind this door to the Counseling Office (Room 139) is where students receive advice and encouragement to help them stay on the right path and succeed beyond graduation.

  • Students waiting in the Counseling Office patiently, hoping to discuss their schedule changes, important decision making, academic help, and get personal support.

  • Mr. Levy works one-on-one with a student, providing guidance and support to help reach their educational goals.

  • Junior Seif Seifelnasr meets with the counselor to review important information and plan for future goals.

  • Posters in the counseling room giving helpful reminders and details about college, careers, and student resources.

  • Senior Julian leaves the counseling office on track and ready to achieve upcoming collegiate goals.

Myah Diaz, a freshman, is on the staff of The Mirror, the award-winning student newspaper and website at Van Nuys High School in Los Angeles. For fun, she likes to spend time with her Maltese poodle named Mylo, buying him toys, feeding him treats, taking him for walks and teaching him tricks. She also enjoys listening to music, relaxing and watching horror movies, especially the “Conjuring” films. When she graduates from high school, Diaz wants to attend Yale University to become a lawyer. A place she would really like to visit is Mexico, where her family is from, because she wants to experience the country and view its authenticity. A cause she supports is women’s rights because she believes in protecting their equality and freedoms.
