As of Friday, September 1st, there have been 103,414 deaths in California due to Covid-19. According to an article from the LA Times, the transmission rates are the highest they’ve ever been since the beginning of summer this year. However, scientists say that there’s no cause for alarm.
Due to the fact that there is less reportable testing, it is important to know that it’s a bit unfair to make comparisons between past and present Covid cases.
Scientists say that over the past three years of Covid’s reign, everyone should at least have contracted the disease once or have gotten at least one vaccine, resulting in more immunity overall. Despite these hypotheses, hospitalizations have been trending upward. Since the start of summer, new hospital admissions have increased over 87%.
Though scientists say to not be panicked by this outbreak, they don’t recommend carelessness. The right mindset to maintain during this time is in between being extra cautious with Covid and being careless with contracting the disease.
With school resuming and many families returning from summer vacations, there’s a high chance that there will be outbreaks across schools, work sites, health facilities, and other public places in L.A. County. If you have not received any type of Covid-19 vaccine, it is recommended that you do receive one.
