To protest the Trump Administration’s plans for mass deportation of immigrants, a large group of students walked out of class and headed off campus at 10:47 a.m today to protest Trump’s plans for mass deportation, facing no resistance from the school administration.

LAUSD schools across the valley, including North Hollywood High School, have been holding similar protests all week.

With helicopters buzzing overhead, The students walked down Van Nuys Blvd. to the Van Nuys Municipal Courthouse followed by local TV news crews and Los Angeles Times reporters..

Students opened Instagram on Tuesday to see a post detailing a walk out to protest ICE mass deportations.

Teachers received an email on Wednesday explaining that students, under the first amendment, have the right to protest and teachers should not fight them on leaving.

Additionally, the email detailed that students could go to the auditorium or gym if they wished to express their thoughts on deportations without leaving campus.

Knowing they wouldn’t face disciplinary action, the group of participating students grew, with an instagram account (@wolves.walkout2025) even being created to update students on information and safety regulations.

They were met with KTLA and ABC news vans, waiting to report the event. A report from KTLA states that a student emailed information about the walkout to them earlier this week.

For students like senior DJ Martinez, who is serving as one of the leaders of the group, the idea behind the walk out is to be the voices of those who can’t protest.

“Our goal is to stand in solidarity with our friends, our families and our peers,” they said. “We want to use our voices to speak up for those who can’t.”

Updates to follow.
