The bottom line | On Wednesday, Jan. 10, the boys soccer team faced the Sylmar Spartans and suffered a devastating blow of 3-2.

Highlights |

  • Angel Rivier (#69) scored the first goal in the second half, which visibly boosted morale.
  • Ryan Kumar (#23) scored the second goal of the game in the second half.
  • Angel Rivier (#69) shut down the opposing team’s striker.
  • In spite of these advancements, the Wolves weren’t able to maintain their good performance and lost 3-2.

What’s Next | On Friday, Jan. 12, the Wolves will square off against the Panorama Pythons, followed by a matchup with the San Fernando Tigers on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Team thoughts | “After a devastating loss, there isn’t much you can do besides keeping your head up and working harder to practice our talking during the game and just keeping our heads in a straight line.” right wing Ryan Kumar said.

Our thoughts | Starting the first home game of the semester off with a loss normally would’ve normally demoralized the team. Instead of letting it take them down, however, they decided to learn from their mistakes. Now, for future reference, they know that they need to improve their communication skills and continue keeping their heads up. Despite the fact that they didn’t win, they felt satisfied with their performance and look forward to playing better in their next few games.

I didn’t have a name for a month after I was born, my name is Ivan Alcala. I’m new to journalism. I enjoy telling people my opinions, even when they don’t ask. I also enjoy filmmaking and camerawork; capturing a moment in time on a C100 or Black Magic 6k camera that tells a wider story feels fulfilling. When I’m not doing filmmaking, my main interests include model building, a hobby that toes the line between technical and artistic skill, and reading, a hobby that allows me to be transported into the minds and ideas of other talented people. Words and actions are a musical scale and it is my job to turn that into a melody.
