Pixar’s new movie Hoppers is about a girl named Mabel who dresses up as a robot beaver to save a forest from getting torn down. It sounds weird but it’s actually pretty good.
The story is pretty simple. Mabel finds a secret animal council and tries to help them to stop a developer from destroying their home.
Jon Hamm plays the comical villain. Usually Hamm plays serious roles but here, he’s just a jerk and it works way better.
The animation looks amazing, especially the forest parts. It almost looks like a real nature documentary sometimes, which sounds boring but it’s cool to watch and very entertaining. You can tell they spent a lot of time on it.
The only problem is how fast the pacing is.
Mabel becomes friends with this beaver named King George and it’s cute, but it doesn’t make you cry or anything. Pixar movies usually hit you hard in the feelings but this one is more just fun to watch.
The best part is when Mabel first meets the animal council. They’re all freaking out and arguing. It’s very funny. That whole scene itself is probably the best in the movie.
Overall, it’s a good movie to watch with your family. It’s very entertaining, it looks great, and it has an important message about saving the environment.
