Important Wins and Losses:

  • “The Brutalist” was nominated in seven categories and took three awards home, most notably for “Best Drama Motion Picture.”

  • “Wicked” underperformed, only winning “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.”

  • “Emilia Perez” won “Best Motion Picture for a Musical or Comedy”

  • Demi Moore wins her first big award ever after being in the entertainment industry for 45 years. She won “Best Performance By A Female Actor In a Motion Picture: Musical or Comedy”, for her work in “The Substance”.

  • Jeremy Allen White wins his third Golden Globe for “Best Performance By a Male Actor In a Television Series: Musical or Comedy” for “The Bear”.

  • “Baby Reindeer” took home two awards, one for “Best Television Limited Series Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made For Television” and the other for “Best Performance By a Female Actor In a Supporting Role On Television”, given to Jessica Gunning.

Best Outfits:

  • “Dune: Part Two” and “Challengers” star, Zendaya, wore a custom Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Ghesquière dress in Old Hollywood style, silently announcing her engagement with Tom Holland by wearing her engagement ring.

  • Margaret Qualley walked the halls of The Beverly Hilton in an embroidered silky white dress by Chanel. Qualley and her stylist, Patricia Villirillo, worked together with Chanel to make the custom piece.

  • Lee Jung-Jae stepped out of his green set and into a black double-breasted Gucci tux, cleanly paired with Horsebit leather boots.

  • Nominated for “Hit Man,” Glen Powell disappointed no one while wearing a custom dark chocolate brown velvet tuxedo by Armani.

  • “Queer Eye” star, Jonathan Van Ness, strutted the red carpet in a strapless gown by Christian Siriano.

Memorable Moments:

  • Nikkie Glaser, the host of the night, was a hit. Her opening monologue picked at Ozempic, “Welcome to the 82nd Golden Globes, Ozempic’s biggest night,” Sean “Diddy” Combs, “I’m upset too, the after party isn’t gonna be as good, no baby oil this year “ and Timothee Chalamet’s thin mustache, “You have the most gorgeous eyelashes on your lip”.

  • Some moving speeches were those delivered by Demi Moore and Jon Chu. Moore touched on “never being enough” and being a “popcorn actress”, she thought she’d never get here. Chu talked about how much it meant to him and the cast that there were so many people that fell in love with the movie, just like they did. He ended his speech with a meaningful quote to let us all know, “we can take the world of the Yellow Brick Road, and maybe discover we can fly.”

Melissa Ocegueda, Staff Writer
Melissa Ocegueda, a junior, is a new staff writer for the Arts and Entertainment section. Her hobbies range from doing her own nails to baking. She is passionate about theater, specifically technical theater in light design. Ocegueda's obsession is the musical “Hamilton,” probably her favorite musical ever. She dreams to study in New York, hoping to one day be a writer and maybe even a director. It’s quite a contradiction for her as she doesn't like to read but hopes to be a great writer. Her favorite movie is “Marriage Story” because she loves how the story depicts a simple separation turned to a warring divorce because of society. One of Ocegueda’s favorite songs is “Wildflower” by Billie Ellish. She wishes she could donate to DACA and The Trevor Project.
