As Taylor Swift’s tenth studio album Midnights approaches on Oct. 21st, fans are becoming increasingly feverish.
After the popstar’s surprise announcement during her VMA MTV acceptance speech, she decided to pay back fans by announcing the release of a brand new album. During Swift’s speech, she detailed more about the album saying, “I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand new album comes out October 21st…and I will tell you more at midnight.”
Of course, as Taylor had promised, she posted more about the album on her social media platforms stating, “Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.” Her post also included the album’s cover and thirteen-song tracklist. In anticipation of the album’s release, Swift took to TikTok, creating a series called “Midnights Mayhem With Me.” In each episode of the series she reveals one random song title through an old-fashioned bingo wheel, and as you may have guessed, every midnight. As of Sept. 29, she has released five track titles – Mastermind, Vigilante Shit, Question…?, Midnight Rain, Maroon, and Anti-Hero.
Taylor has stayed true to her fans and continues to release more spoilers for her upcoming album. She details more about the albums and the different back cover photos stating, “If you put all the back covers together, she’s a clock, it makes a clock.” Swift has always been so creative with her projects, and fans love each spoiler and easter egg she releases. And Swifties are beyond excited for this new era she is entering with authentic and raw music.
After the release of the sixth episode from “Midnights mayhem With Me”, Swift comments on how significant track three’s “Anti-Hero” is to her, as it delves far into her own insecurities. She explains, “I struggle a lot with the idea that my life has become unmanageably sized…I just struggle with the idea of not feeling like a person.” This new perspective Swift introduces shows aspects of her own mind revealing criticism coming from the likes and dislikes about herself. She continues to add that these insecurities that she and everyone else possess are an aspect of ourselves that we must deal with. Swift’s ability to be candid in her music is a characteristic seen in her entire discography, which is something we can expect more of in her new album.
Since Taylor’s last album release, Red (Taylor’s Version) a re-recorded version of her 2012 album Red, she has set many milestones. At the 2022 VMAs the popstar wins Video of the Year for her highly popular music video ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)’. The release of the music video starring actors Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien increased her popularity and the build-up for her upcoming album Midnights. As expected, Swifties all over the world are sharing their excitement over it, ready to spark charts again.

In the little snippets that Taylor released online, we can truly see this new evolution and era she has entered.
In her latest Twitter post, she unveils what the multitude of songs meant to her. Swift discloses, “This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night…For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve…we’ll meet ourselves.” Those few sentences and snippets of knowledge of how each song may arouse certain emotions still give Swift fans some idea of what to expect. A journey through self-discovery.
In Swift’s message to fans, she also reveals that those thirteen sleepless nights allowed her to convey her writing into a memoir of songs. Those songs which express the numerous emotions and scenarios we experience as we lie awake at night. So although Swifties aren’t given any recording spoilers or song snippets, these small details allow for fans to find clues as to what more we can expect.
