The mystery of filming on campus solved

After less than a week of the SAG strike reaching an end, film crew are already back on campus, taking up much of the quad and a portion of the bungalows with large cameras, lighting equipment and countless actors.

Beginning earlier this week, with the principal’s message on Sunday, Nov. 12, stating that the gates on Cedros Ave. would be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday due to filming, students have had to work around tons of film crew and equipment, including 12 large pickup trucks parked in the middle of the quad.

Although very little information can be found out by asking the film crew, we were able to learn that a special for “The Real Bros of Simi Valley,” a Facebook and YouTube parody show starring YouTuber Cody Ko, is being filmed right on campus.

“The Real Bros of Simi Valley” is a parody of the classic reality show “Real Housewives” which features a group of women in a certain city, such as New York City, Beverly Hills or Miami as they deal with their day to day lives in a very dramatic way.

The “Real Housewives” series, while not spectacular in the acting categories, are fan favorites due to the ridiculous drama and hilarious fights.

The parody series is based on four best friends who live in Simi Valley. The “bros,” now decades out of high school, need to take on adult responsibilities. Although the show is not well known, it is loved by its small audience base. The fans are eager to see what happens next in the season since season three left viewers with a cliffhanger back in late 2020.

Filming for the special was originally planned to take three days, but due to inclement weather, the film crew is expected to be on campus for the remainder of the week. Although the filming might seem inconvenient at the moment, please be respectful to the crew and actors, try to stay out of the way of the film crew and ensure that, if you need to cross through an active filming zone, you are cleared to do so.

I have lost many video games, but when I win them, it feels like an accomplishment. As a newcomer journalist, I want to explore different views, opinions, and entertainment through my writing. Exploring new worlds and adventures through gaming helps me escape the real world. I hope that my writing will be an escape for people from their everyday lives. Everyday life can be boring without some fun and that is what I aim to provide.
