TENNIS | Girls team secure spot in the playoffs with a strong win over the Spartans

With a final score of 6-1, Wolves take victory over Sylmar in front of a home crowd.

The Wolves tennis team faced the Sylmar Spartans, division rivals, at home on Oct. 11, eventually winning the game 6-1.

With this win, the players have officially secured their place in the CIF playoffs. Captain Van Handke said that usually the team gets in the playoffs much later in the season, so this came as a welcome surprise.

This year’s tennis squad looks set to make a deep run in the playoffs. They have only lost one game throughout their season and have just two more games to prove their skill, against San Fernando and Kennedy. They will take place next week on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.

The girls captain shared her thoughts on how she feels about the team as they head into their final stretch of the season.

“Very happy! I’m so proud of them and all that we’ve done in such little time,” Hanke said. “Never had a win this quick before.”
