Family-friendly fun awaits in Los Angeles this weekend
In the mood for some thrifting? The Melrose Trading Post, an L.A. weekend flea market, is launching a new event, Melrose Fashion Week. This Sunday Mar. 23, go to the MTP for a community re-dye workshop with Circular Fashion L.A. from 11am to 4pm. At 1pm, runway shows will kick off, showcasing looks made from vintage, secondhand and up-cycled materials by Melrose and high school student designers. This event is located at Fairfax High School.
The Natural History Museum’s Butterfly Pavilion will be open Mar. 23 through Aug. 24 and will showcase many different butterfly and moth species. A perfect day out for both adults and children, this experience allows for a magical walk through a garden with California native plants. Prime for this event usually takes place between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. each morning at Exposition Park.
At the start of spring, consider visiting the L.A Zoo and learning about pollinators. Many family-friendly activities will be included with admission including fun musical performances, special animal presentations and feedings, a coloring wall and honey tastings provided by the Los Angeles County Beekeepers Association. This event is located at the L.A Zoo.
LAUSD's budget leaves the award-winning journalism program at Van Nuys High School with a $0 budget in the upcoming school year. Without YOUR support, The Mirror cannot cover its expenses, hurting students directly and putting something that took years to build at genuine risk of falling behind.
Please consider making a donation to cover other VNHS journalism program expenses this school year
