Dr. Barbara Ferrer, the director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, said that the stay-at-home order and restrictions for LA residents may be in place for three more months during a Board of Supervisors meeting today.

She said that only a “dramatic change to the virus and tools at hand” can prevent this from happening.

The current stay-at-home, however, is set to last only until this Friday, May 15. LA Mayor Eric Garcetti has not officially announced an extension.

This also comes as Gov. Gavin Newsom started allowing some businesses that don’t involve prolonged close-contact to reopen.

The stay-at-home order was initially reinstated on March 19.

There are currently 32,258 coronavirus cases and 1,569 deaths in LA County. Four hundred fifty two of these cases are from Van Nuys.
