Fans are going crazy over the upcoming Joker movie, a new and dramatic take on one of DC’s beloved villains. However, with the decline of DC movies since the Dark Knight trilogy, what’s the hype all about?

The trailer deep dives into the character of Joker, or Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix).

Disregarded by society, he is beaten up for being a freak and humiliated on TV as a failed comedian. With his mother being his only support, Arthur begins his emotional and mental descent into madness.

As the music swells, so does the world around him; Gotham turns against itself as crowds of people with clown masks rally against government workers with violence. Putting on make-up and dancing down the stairs, Arthur Fleck now puts on a happy face to bring laughter and joy to the world as the “Joker.”

Returning DC fans are shocked to a completely standalone character study on “The Joker.”

The “Joker” will star Joaquin Pheonix as Joker, Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, and Robert De Niro as Murray Franklin.

The movie was directed and written by Todd Phillips, known for his works on The Hangover Trilogy, “Due Date,” and “Old School,”Joker,” is a complete 180 from these pretty low-rated comedies.

However, with a 9.5/10 on IMDb and Joaquin Phoenix (known for his works as Theodore from “Her” and Commodus from “Gladiator”) as the Joker, a bright future can be seen for the movie.

While it premiered on August 31, 2019, it’s set to its theater release on October 4, 2019.
