The Van Nuys Wolves looked to kick off league play with a win as they hosted the Sylmar Spartans on Sept. 14.

The Spartans jumped out of the gate with an early rushing touchdown. The Wolves quickly responded as Quarterback Jonathan Phosri found the end zone in a run play, resulting in a score of 8-6.

The Wolves were unable to stop the Spartans in the second quarter as they allowed four touchdowns and fell down 40-6 by the end of the half.

The defense tightened up for the Wolves as they only gave up one touchdown for the remainder of the game. However, the offense would be ice cold as they were held scoreless.

“It was a tough loss for us, all aspects of the game were not up to par with them,” said Phosri.

Final Score: 46-6
