Why it matters:
The song matters because it is not only about a sad heartbreak, it’s about choosing yourself and having self worth over yourself and choosing your own route over a relationship that is not meant for you.

The sound:
The song has a country sound with a lot of emotional vocals that make the lyrics stand out more, making it very catchy. It blends very well when it’s all combined, making it into a very honest smoothing tone.

The hook:
The hook hits hard, showing us how beneficial it is walking away from a person or situationship you really cared about, and putting yourself first for once. It captures the moment when you decide to leave them, and learn how to be better without them.

The bottom line:
If you’re ever open to discover a new music style, this song would be worth listening to. You never know, you might actually relate to it more than you expect. It’s the kind of song that sticks to you even after it ends due to its reliability and catchy chorus.

Christy Avila, a sophomore, is on the staff of The Mirror, the award-winning student newspaper and website at Van Nuys High School in Los Angeles. For fun, hangs out with her friends, plays football and basketball, and goes on her phone. She tries to keep up with her grades. Her plans are to go to college and begin working maybe part-time to help her dad pay for her college expenses. She  hopes to attend CSUN or NYU and wants to become either a professional basketball player, lawyer or auto mechanic. She has watched all of the “Scream” movies, which she thinks is a unique movie franchise that keeps the audience entertained. When she’s alone she listens to R&B, Spanish music and oldies.
