Win Over Angelou Ends Drought

Lockdown defense leads the Wolves to their first victory of the season

By Joshua Updegraph and Daniel Reyes

Coming off back-to-back losses to begin the season, the Varsity Football Team played  their third game of the season against the Angelou Wolfpack on Thursday, Aug. 30, shutting them out 20-0.

Everything seemed to be clicking for the Wolves as they dominated both sides of the ball due to an early interception by Julian Heseltine, which halted a threatening drive by Angelou. The Wolves’ stellar defense translated to offense as it allowed a pair of rushing touchdowns by Jonathan Phosri.

In the second half, the Wolves led with a 14-0 edge over the Angelou Wolfpack, again asserting their defensive dominance with an interception by Elijah Porter. After snatching an interception, Porter also scored in the fourth quarter sealing a shutout first victory of the season for the 1-2 Wolves.

Final Score: 20-0
