The LAUSD Board of Education unanimously placed Superintendent Alberto Carvalho on paid administrative leave after the FBI raided his home and district offices. Andres Chait, a 27-year district veteran, takes over as acting superintendent amid an $877 million budget gap, possible teacher strikes and an ongoing federal investigation.
