TRUTH MATTERS… Donate to support excellence in student journalism

The bottom line | The varsity baseball team had an away game against the Valley Academy of the Arts High School (VAAS) Vipers on Wednesday, March 10, and came out victorious with a score of 8-0.

Highlights |

  • Three of the eight runs were scored in the first inning, one in the fifth and four in the seventh
  • Senior Shortstop Joel Enciso pitched on the mound the entirely of the game, with 12 strikeouts against the opposing team and only one ball hit by the Vipers
  • Senior and catcher Nate Renard led the team in putouts with 12 throughout the game
  • Junior and center fielder Alejandro Diaz led the team in stolen bases, with two bases stolen against the Vipers, Renard, Freshman shortstop Enzo Enciso and Senior Christopher Brenes were right behind Diaz with one stolen base each

What’s next | The Wolves’ next match will be home against the Vipers once more on Friday, March 21. Then have another home game against Faith Baptist High School on March 31.

Team thoughts | “I think the entire team did well as a whole, and most of all, I’m just glad we won,” Joel Enciso said. “Winning always makes everybody feel good.”

Our thoughts | This was an amazing match for the Wolves offensively and defensively. A week prior to this game, the team had a 4-5 loss but they did not let this put them down, they went straight back to the baseball field and won their next game. Many players did great in this game and greatly showed off their skills.

For the books |

  • 2 wins , 2 losses
  • Valley Mission League

Isabel Valles
Isabel Valles, Athletics Editor
Through participating in multiple sports writing competitions, I was able to prove my commitment to the class and was chosen to become sports editor in my second year of journalism. My love for sports writing came around the time my love for sports developed around 6 years ago. Another thing I love about writing about sports is being able to inform and catch up readers about games that they may have missed. Currently I play three sports, flag football, track and field, and basketball. After high school I plan on attending either the University of Pennsylvania or the University of Santa Cruz. My goal for this year as editor is to become a better leader and learn from any mistakes that I might make in the process.
