Wolves’ impressive offense overwhelms Regents, 15-5

Enciso brothers combine for 11 strikeouts

Bottom line | The Wolves baseball team played against the Reseda Regents on Monday, Feb. 24 and came out victorious with a score of 15-5.

 

Highlights | 

  • In the top of the first inning pitcher, shortstop and senior Joel Enciso hit is first career home run to left center field 
  • Junior and left fielder Anthony Navarro led the team in stolen bases with four bases stolen against the Regents 
  • Joel Enciso started on the mound against the Regents and pitched for the first three innings, ending with six strikeouts
  • Shortstop and freshman Enzo Enciso took over for Joel and pitched the remaining two innings, ending with five strikeouts 
  • First baseman and Junior Conner Alagozyan as well as catcher, shortstop and senior Nate Renard led the team in putouts with both of them having six 

 

Whats next | The team’s next game will be an away game on March 3 against Canyon High School then have another away game against the Valley Academy of the Arts on March 19.

 

Team thoughts | “It felt great to catch the first of many Ws of this season,” third baseman Joaquin Boche said. “But there are always things to improve on and we are going to move forward.” 

 

Our thoughts | The Wolves started off the game very strong by scoring runs early on but when the home run was hit, the energy seemed to light up even more and pump everyone up. Every player on the team did their job which inevitably helped contribute to the 15–5 win.

Through participating in multiple sports writing competitions, I was able to prove my commitment to the class and was chosen to become sports editor in my second year of journalism. My love for sports writing came around the time my love for sports developed around 6 years ago. Another thing I love about writing about sports is being able to inform and catch up readers about games that they may have missed. Currently I play three sports, flag football, track and field, and basketball. After high school I plan on attending either the University of Pennsylvania or the University of Santa Cruz. My goal for this year as editor is to become a better leader and learn from any mistakes that I might make in the process.
