The girls volleyball team pulled it together in the last game before playoffs; they were, however, unable to qualify.

Highlights |

  • In the first set, the Wolves and Tigers were neck to neck, but the Wolves were able to push through and ultimately won the set 25-27
  • The Wolves communication and defense started to rip, keeping the scores close with the Tigers, but eventually losing the set 28-26
  • In the third set, the Wolves’s offense started to shine, getting multiple kills and aces, winning the set 25-22
  • Yet again, the scores went back and forth, but the Wolves proved their superiority, and came out on top winning the set 26-24,
  • Senior Adrienne Mita (#2) had amazing kills against the Tigers giving the team multiple points
  • One person who stepped up on defense was Libero Camila Santiago (#1) who was eagerly waiting to return to the court after missing most of the season. She had incredible receives, keeping the plays alive and even getting points for the team.
  • Middle blocker Teagan Creer (#17) had monstrous blocks against the Tigers, saving her team from getting scored on and was a huge contribution on offense, getting great hits

What’s Next | The girls volleyball team ended their season with a big victory over San Fernando High School. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late, as it was the last game of their season. They were unable to make the playoffs.

Word on campus | “I think our game went pretty well, although we had a rocky start, we found our rhythm towards the end,” outside hitter Bella Mokhtari said. “Even though the scores fluctuated throughout the game, we played it right and gave it our all, sending our seniors out with a win.”

Our thoughts | The girls volleyball team played an amazing game. Every single one of them played their parts very well, had great communication and overall played a great game. Although it was their last game and will lose a plentiful number of seniors this year, they have a bright future ahead.

For the books |

  • 5 wins, 7 losses

From watching sports to playing them, I have always been inclined to write about the new athletic events that occur at our school. As a sophomore at Van Nuys High, I am going into my second year of journalism, not just to write about the games, but to uncover the background and details of the talented athletes that play them. Whenever I’m not on my laptop typing about an athlete or game, I am trying to perfect leche flan.
